Recruitment Process

At COBS Bread, we use an online system to manage your job applications.

1. Online application
The first step in the COBS Bread recruitment process is your online application. You have two options here:

  • Search and apply for a specific position available; or
  • Submit an expression of interest and tell us which location you would like to work at

The application process takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete and will be kept on file for up to 12 months or longer if you would like us to inform you when positions become available. Use the ‘job alert’ to tell us which roles you’d like to be notified about.

2. Phone interview
You may be contacted by COBS Bread to discuss your application and expectations.

3. Face to face interview
If you have successfully completed a phone interview, you will be invited to attend a face to face interview. This interview takes place at one of our regional offices or at a bakery. Interviews will generally consist of a variety of questions regarding your skills, experience and career aspirations. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions about the role, the team and the company.

4. Skills / psychometric testing
Some roles require you to undertake skills and/or psychometric testing. This is to ensure that you have the required level of skill for the role and to make sure that the team and culture is a good fit.

5. Trial
Some bakery roles will provide you with an opportunity to trial employment in the role you’ve applied for in order for you to determine whether this is the job for you. This is not a formal offer but you will be paid for this trial shift.

6. Reference checks
All roles that require previous employment experience will include a reference check as part of the recruitment process. You will be notified if referees are to be contacted.

7. Offer
COBS Bread and franchisees will provide a written offer and employment agreement when your application has been successful.

8. Induction
When you start work at COBS Bread you will be given an induction plan to start your training and assist you in achieving the goals and success of your role.
