Cory and Jennifer are opening the first COBS Bread bakery in Lethbridge, AB! Learn a little bit more about why Cory & Jennifer chose to open a COBS Bread bakery in this edition of "Behind the Bread."
When did you join the COBS Bread family and what inspired you to do so?
We love the product! Originally from Lethbridge, we always wanted to find a way to move back and be closer to family and friends, while doing something we loved.
After a stressful day dealing with emergencies all day, Jennifer came home from work and stated she needed a change, and that COBS Bread looked like a wonderful place to work. Cory did some research on the company, made a couple phone calls, and after that – the rest was history!
What did you do before working at COBS? Why COBS Bread? What do you enjoy the most about being a franchisee?
Before COBS, Cory worked as a Business Development Manager in Calgary for a large American company. Jennifer worked for many as a Clinic Manager for a large Veterinary Hospital. More recently, Jennifer had been working as a 911 Emergency Dispatcher. While a rewarding job, it came with a high level of stress and extremely long hours!
Long before becoming Franchise Owners, we both loved COBS Bread. Our weekend ritual involved the early morning drive to get fresh bread at our local COBS. The products were always amazing, and the staff was welcoming and seemed to genuinely enjoy working for COBS.
We look forward to bringing fresh baked goods to our community, and being able to give back to charities.
Which charities will your bakery donate end of day products to?
We will be donating to the Canadian Red Cross for our charity day. Our daily End of Day products will go to local charities, rehab facilities and and more... additionally, we look forward to being a part of Breakfast Club of Canada.
How are you planning on getting involved in the community?
We plan on giving back to the community in various ways, mostly through sponsorship of local youth sports programs and charity events.
A little more about the new owners:
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Cory enjoys golfing, coaching hockey and listening music. He has an extensive CD and record collection that takes up a lot of his spare time.
Jennifer is happy to be back in Lethbridge, close to family and friends. When not reading or helping out on her family’s farm, she enjoys skeet and trap shooting.
