Toast is the best thing to happen to bread since, well, sliced bread. When faced with exotic foods, trendy styles of cooking and expensive gadgets – eating healthy can seem overwhelming and complicated. But choosing healthy options and making healthy snacks can be simple! All you need is a slice of toast, nutritious spreads and toppings.
We’ve chosen three easy Toast Toppers to get you started!
Toast and breakfast go hand in hand! Toast toppers for breakfast are easy and delicious! We used the following combinations on Chia Whole Wheat and sprinkled extra chia seeds on top for more protein and omega-3 fatty acids.
- Nut Butter + Raw Cacao Nibs
- Nut Butter + Banana
- Nut Butter + Rasperries + Cacao Nibs
We used almond butter, but any healthy spread will do.
Not a fan of nut butter? Try cottage cheese! Cottage cheese is low in fat, and high in protein and goes well as both a sweet and savoury snack. We topped it with raspberries, honey and sunflower seeds for an extra crunch, but try it with avocado and tomatoes, or hard boiled eggs and paprika.
For an afternoon snack or even a light dinner, toast up your favourite slice of bread and top with a bruschetta mix – chop up tomatoes, onion, basil and drizzle a bit of olive oil then top your toast for a quick snack.
