Celebrating National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day

Celebrating National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day

National Grilled Cheese Day is April 12, and that’s reason to celebrate! There’s one obvious factor in all grilled cheese sandwiches – the cheese. You can’t have a grilled cheese sandwich without the cheese, but after that, there’s much to debate.

  • How much cheese is too much cheese (is there really such a thing?!)
  • Should a grilled cheese sandwich ONLY have cheese in the middle? Or are you a ‘more is more’ type of person when it comes to a grilled cheese sandwich  – the more fillings the better?
  • Dipping in ketchup – yay, nay or “Ew! people do that?”
  • And of course – what’s the best bread for a grilled cheese sandwich? Is it a soft and simple loaf, like the higher fibre? Or a sturdier loaf like Sourdough, to hold in all the fillings?

No matter your preference on the grilled cheese, one thing is for sure – it’s a day to celebrate! We’ve pulled some of our favourite grilled cheese recipes – both savoury and sweet – to share!

Italian Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Italian Grilled Cheese Sandwich - 1080 x 1080

Pancetta, mozzarella and basil, grilled and topped with balsamic glaze. Yes, please! Our mouth is already watering for this grilled cheese.

Grilled Three Cheese Sandwich

Trio Grilled Cheese Sandwich - 1080 x 1080

You might be a grilled cheese purist and stick to only cheese, but that doesn’t mean your sandwich has to be simple. We’ve loaded this griller with three different kinds of cheese between our sourdough for a rich sandwich – now all it needs is some tomato soup.

Blueberry and Cream Cheese Toasted Sandwich

Blueberry Cream Cheese Toasty on Cinnamon Loaf

Who says grilled cheese sandwiches can only be savoury? This version features sweetened cream cheese and fresh blueberries between two slices of our Cinnamon Loaf. You might just get away with eating it for breakfast (at least for National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day anyway)!
