Five Thanksgiving Recipes And Tips
Thanksgiving – it’s a time to give thanks and recognize what you’re grateful for – but let’s be honest, it can also be stressful to plan your menu and host guests. That doesn’t even take into account worrying about whether you have enough chairs or sets of forks. We’ve got five recipes and tips to help your Thanksgiving run smoothly.
1) Starting with Appies
Treat your guests as soon as they step in the door. For a low-effort, but still delicious appetizer platter, slice our new Garlic Cheddar Sourdough Baguette or French Baguette and serve with a variety of cheeses. Want to serve hot appies instead? Hollow out a baguette and fill with spinach dip. Top with cheese and bake until the cheese has melted.
How can you have Thanksgiving without stuffing? We’ve used our Pane di Casa Loaf in this recipe but any denser loaf like Authentic Sourdough is easy to swap in.
Pro Tip: If you’re buying your loaf for the purpose of stuffing, choose ‘thick cut’ instead of sandwich cut.
3) Make what you can ahead of time.
If you use breadcrumbs in any of your dishes like casseroles or stuffing, make them ahead of time. If dried, homemade breadcrumbs can last up to three months in an airtight container.
To make breadcrumbs, slice bread and place in the oven at a very low temperature to dry out the bread. Grind the dried bread in a food processor, mixer or blender to bring to a size as desired. Bonus tip: Day-old bread will take less time to dry out and is a great way to avoid wasting food!
Whatever your favourite salad recipe, you can’t go wrong by topping it with croutons. Brighten your salad with this recipe for Beet Salad with Goats Cheese Cape Seed Croutons. Fresh and flavourful, this salad will leave everyone at your table wondering why they don’t eat more beets.
5) Make Dessert Easy
