World Vegan Day
Avocado on toast? Obviously. Root vegetable soup with toasted Focaccia triangles? Definitely. A rainbow of veggies piled high between two slices of Cape Seed – of course!
It’s World Vegan Day on November 1st, but that doesn’t mean you have to limit your vegan meals to just one day.
Whether every meal is a plant-based one, you’re attempting meatless Mondays for the first time, or maybe it’s just because your mom keeps nagging you to eat more veggies, vegan meals can be bright, tasty and filling. Hey, if eating the occasional plant-based meals is good enough for athletes like Aaron Rodgers, it’s good enough for me!
Vegan sandwich? Easy! Our sandwich loaves baked from scratch (as is all our bread), without added dairy, sugar or preservatives. This includes customer favourites like our Country Grain Loaf, Cape Seed Loaf and even our classic White Loaf.
We also have a selection of artisan loaves that are also vegan-friendly. Sop up saucy Italian dinners with a side of toasted Sunflower Flax Sourdough, swap in Apricot Loaf to your favourite French Toast recipe or tackle the (actually-not-that) ambitious task of making your own croutons and bread crumbs with our Pane di Casa!
We asked around the office to get some ideas on how to incorporate COBS Bread into vegan snacks, and these were the top choices:
- Turkish Bread: Toast and cube to dip in oil and vinegar
- White or Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns: Chickpea burgers with guacamole
- French Baguette: Slice and top with pickled vegetables for colourful appies
- Turkish Bread: Cube and toast, then dip in oil and balsamic vinegar
We’re not the only ones who love to pair our bread with vegan meals. Check out this gorgeous avocado toast from @CookiesandKale – it’s even topped with broccoli sprouts. If that’s not next-level vegan, I don’t know what is. (Bonus points if you sprout your own. I tried once and it failed.)

Would I even be a millennial if I didn't post AVO-TOAST?! This is a quick and easy go-to breaky that is super nutrient-dense! With more potassium than a banana, avocados are plentiful in my diet to fufill my active lifestyle needs. Sprouts also provide an easily digestible form of fibre and are packed full of anti-oxidants. . . . For breakfast, I had @cobsbread flax and sunflower sourdough, hummus, avocado, cucumber and hemp hearts topped with alfalfa and Brocolli sprouts. Seasoned with sea salt, pepper and cayenne!

Tempeh BELT(A) anyone? I take my sandwiches very seriously and was in need of a mid morning “snack” 🙈 Gearing up to leave for Nicaragua on Friday and I feel so frantic trying to get everything done! Doesn’t help that my headlight on my car just went out again for the second time in a month, I have way too much food to eat in my fridge before I go (my sister is leaving for a 3 week trip too) and I have a baby kombucha growing on my counter that will go unattended for ten days 🤦🏻♀️ Life is a little bit of a juggle sometimes but if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that it magically all ends up getting done one way or another thanks to a little thing I call hustling 👊🏻 This sandwich features all the usuals: tempeh bacon, lettuce, tomato, guacamole and vegan egg!
