Cacio e Pepe Muffuletta
Our take on the Italian classic but made on our Cacio e Pepe Focaccia. Love a charcuterie board? This sandwich is for you! This sandwich is loaded with an array of Italian meats, cheeses, and olives. A true Sicilian sandwich for all the meat and cheese lovers!
Ingredients
Muffuletta Sandwich
- Cacio e Pepe Focaccia
- 8 slices Salami
- 8 slices Mortadella or Deli Ham
- 8 slices Capicola
- 4 slices of Mozzarella
- 4 slices Provolone
- 100 grams Burrata Cheese
- 1 Cup Arugula
- 3 tablespoons Olive Oil
- Salt & Pepper
- Pepperoncini for garnish (if you like it spicy!)
Olive Salad
- 1 cup of olives of your choice
- ¼ cup of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon minced shallots
- 1 tablespoon chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon flat leaf parsley
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- Season with salt & pepper
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
Olive Salad
- Start by dicing olives, shallots, celery, garlic, and parsley
- Combine all of your chopped ingredients into a bowl, and add olive oil, salt and pepper
- Mix well, and set aside
Muffuletta Sandwich
- Slice your focaccia horizontally to create the top and bottom of your sandwiches
- Assemble your sandwiches by first spreading the olive salad, then layering on the meats and cheeses.
- Once assembled, drizzle over your favourite olive oil, add the arugula, and top with salt & pepper.
- Add back your other slice of focaccia to close your sandwich, and wrap in aluminum foil, and place in the oven for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted
- Slice your sandwich into quarters to create 4 sandwiches and serve!
