Gourmet Everything Steak Sandwich
This steak sandwich is the ultimate quick meal. Using COBS Everything Gourmet Hamburger Bun adds an extra flavour kick to this easy recipe. We have used flank steak here, but feel free to substitute another cut, such as New York Strip or ribeye, if you would like.
Hot tip: Jazz up your sandwiches by stirring a tablespoon or two of prepared horseradish or sriracha hot sauce into the mayonnaise before assembling.
Ingredients
- 4 COBS Everything Gourmet Hamburger Buns
- 1 lb Flank Steak
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 2 large Onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp Dijon Mustard
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 1/4 cup Mayonnaise
- 4 slices Swiss Cheese
- 1 cup Baby Arugula
Directions
- Slice the Everything Gourmet Hamburger Buns in half and set aside.
- Season flank steak all over with salt and pepper. Set steak aside on a plate while preheating oil in a large cast iron skillet or large frying pan over medium high heat. Once hot, add steak. Cook for 3 minutes, flip and cook another 3 minutes, or until steak is done to your liking. Remove steak from skillet and place on a clean plate to rest. Keep skillet over heat and don’t worry about cleaning it out. Reduce heat to medium.
- Melt butter in skillet. Add onions and sauté until softened and starting to caramelize, about 10 minutes. Stir in mustard and beef broth and cook, stirring often, until most of the liquid has been absorbed, about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove skillet from heat.
- Slice steak against the grain into 1/4 inch thick strips.
- Add steak to skillet with onion mixture and stir to gently until steak and onions are well combined and evenly coated in any remaining pan sauce.
Brush each cut side of Everything Gourmet Hamburger Buns with some mayonnaise. Divide steak and onions evenly over bottom halves of each bun before topping with a slice of cheese and some baby arugula. Cover each with a bun top and enjoy.
