Meet Gerry, Your New Local Bakery Owner in Peterborough, Ontario

We are so happy to introduce Gerry, the proud owner of our newest bakery located in Peterborough, Ontario. Gerry is passionate, community focused and a real go-getter. He is the perfect addition to our COBS Bread family and we are so excited to have him on our team. Keep reading to learn a little more about Gerry, what led him to this journey and how he plans on giving back to the community!

What did you do before becoming a COBS Bread bakery owner?

I owned two supermarkets in Ireland, which was one of the largest supermarket chains in Ireland. I also had a bar business when I first moved to Canada.

When did you join the COBS Bread family? Why did you decide to go with COBS Bread?

I lived in Ireland and Ireland is all about fresh food. COBS Bread is all about fresh bread and baked treats. That’s the reason why I decided to go with COBS Bread!  

Before joining COBS Bread, were you much of a baker?

When I first came to Canada, I owned an Irish pub, and we baked all our bread – everything we did was fresh! I love to bake at home as well.

How are you planning on getting involved in the community? 

I am looking forward to getting involved with a variety of local organizations, such as sports teams and charities to raise money for families with sick children. Additionally, I am excited to give back to the community through our End of Day Giving Program, where we donate leftover products to local charities.

If you were a treat or loaf from COBS Bread, which one would you be and why? 

It would definitely be either the Sunflower Flax Sourdough Loaf or Jalapeno Twists – I can’t decide!

What’s in your favourite sandwich?

I love adding smoked salmon to my sandwiches!
