We are here to help. It’s a difficult time, and our priority is the safety of staff and customers. COBS Bread bakeries will continue to remain open to serve the needs of our communities. In order to ensure we are providing the most sanitary and safe environment, our bakeries are doing the following:
Social Distancing: We are limiting the number of customers on the sales floor and have introduced Social Distancing Circles on the floors of the bakeries to provide clear guidance as to how many people are permitted into each bakery. (A parent and child can occupy one.) Once all the Social Distance Circles are filled, we are asking our customers to please form a line outside respecting the Social Distancing rules and enter when someone leaves once circle has become free.
Masks: As per provincial and federal mandates, all staff and customers must wear masks when in the bakery, unless they are exempt.
Protective Counter Top Plastic Shields: All of our bakeries now have plexi shields at the point of sale.
Pre-Slicing and Pre-Packing Bread: We still bake fresh every day, but most of our bakeries are pre-slicing and pre-packing bread to help improve the speed of service in our bakeries.
Shopping Bags: You can bring your own bags! We’ll just ask that you pack them yourselves and away from our counter.
Cash Handling: Cash is accepted as a form of payment, however the preference is that all customers pay with debit or credit card whenever possible.
Pick-up Tissues: Staff are using new wax pick-up tissues with every transaction.
Cleaning and Sanitization: We are reinforcing our rigorous standards and operating procedures including frequent sanitation of all high touch-points in our bakeries including door handles, payment terminals, counters, tabletops, and more, every 30 minutes.
Hand-washing: All staff are washing their hands a minimum of every 20 minutes, and after they have handled cash or touched any un-sanitized surface.
Staff Health: We are encouraging our employees to closely monitor their health and well-being and to stay home if they, or someone they have been in contact with, are feeling unwell.
Sampling: All of our tastings/samples are pre-packaged.
We are working closely with our suppliers to ensure we can continue to provide you with the products you love, and we are staying informed and taking direction from the federal and provincial government. For full details, please review the COBS Bread COVID-19 Operational Health & Safety Plan.
Why don’t your bakery staff wear gloves?
COBS Bread team members use disposable pick-up-tissue for each customer. This ensures that the product remains untouched, and that staff can easily wash their hands as often as possible.
Your staff are within 2m of the bread. Is this safe?
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, “There is no evidence to suggest that food is a likely source or route of transmission of the virus. At this time, there have been no reported cases of food or food packaging being associated with the transmission of COVID-19.”
Our COBS Bread Task Force is meeting three times per week, and our bakeries will remain open to serve your needs. We are committed to keeping the highest standard of customer service, and providing you with the freshest baked bread and treats you have come to expect from COBS Bread.
