COBS BREAD’S BC BAKERIES RAISE $37,392 for BC WOMEN’S HEALTH FOUNDATION

Carleen Pauliuk, Senior Director Development with BCWHF, Aaron Gillespie, President of COBS Bread, and David Riggs, franchise owner of COBS Bread Clayton Crossing in Surrey, BC.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Vancouver, BC) May 27, 2022 –Over Mother’s Day weekend this year, COBS Bread partnered with BC Women’s Health Foundation (BCWHF) to support their vision of healthy women everywhere, capable of anything. At every BC COBS Bread bakery, $1 from every scone purchased on May 7th & 8th was donated back to BCWHF. The bakeries raised $32,800 and COBS Bread donated an additional $4,592 for a total of $37,392.

“Healthy women are critical to our collective future,” says Carleen Pauliuk, Senior Director, Development, BC Women’s Health Foundation. “Yet, despite a publicly funded healthcare system, women in British Columbia have experienced health inequities for decades. To this day, 70% of patients with ‘medically unexplained symptoms’ are women and 1 in 3 women in BC report their needs are not being met by the healthcare system. [1]

“We are so grateful to COBS Bread and their customers for helping BC Women’s Health Foundation change this narrative. The $37,392 raised over Mother’s Day weekend will be invested in our four key funding pillars: education + awareness, advocacy, capital + equipment, and research. Together, we are creating a world of healthy women everywhere, capable of anything.”

President of COBS Bread, Aaron Gillespie, presented the cheque to Carleen Pualiuk this week. “This donation represents the passion that COBS Bread, our customers and our bakeries have in supporting women’s health,” says Gillespie. “We proud to have the opportunity to make an impact in BCWHF’s funding efforts, furthering their goal to help create a healthier province.”
