Third COBS Bread bakery Opens in US in Merrick, NY

Bakery chain from Canada and AUS sets sights on US Expansion

December 6, 2023 (Merrick, NY) – COBS Bread will be opening its third US bakery in Merrick, NY on Monday, December 11. This will be one of the first of many in Long Island, with the next opening following fast before the end of January 2024 in Oceanside. COBS Bread is known locally in Stamford and Greenwich, CT for baking fresh bread and treats every day with high-quality ingredients and no preservatives. At the end of the day, leftover product is donated to local charities.

All of the bread at COBS Bread bakeries is baked from scratch every day and also specializes in an assortment of artisanal pastries, rolls, and savory treats. The first US bakery opened in 2015 at High Ridge Centre in Stamford. The location in Greenwich at Riverside Lane is franchised by a local owner, and COBS Bread will be looking to franchise its locations in the US in the near future.

“The community in Connecticut has really embraced our bakeries,” says Karen Frost-Spokes, VP of COBS Bread USA. “We’re very excited to be opening in Merrick and throughout Long Island and becoming a part of the community here.”

The Merrick bakery has already made connections with local charities Island Harvest, Food Rescue – Mission of Nassau County, and Faith Mission Food Pantry who will be picking up leftover product at the end of the day. “End of Day Giving is a cornerstone of our brand,” says Frost-Spokes. “We’re proud of having a business model with giving baked right in.”

Shortly after the Merrick opening, more COBS Bread locations will be opening in the region with the next one opening before the end of the year in Compo, CT. This is in addition to the aforementioned bakery Oceanside in Long Island opening late Jan/early Feb.

The Merrick bakery is located at 2013 Merrick Road and will be open from 7am to 7pm from Monday to Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 7am-6pm.
