Behind the Bread with Jeff from Upper Oakville and Headon Forest

Jeff is opening the newest COBS Bread bakery in a few weeks in Burlington's Headon Forest! Jeff isn't new to the bakery though- you might know him as the owner as the Upper Oakville bakery, as well! Learn a little bit more about Jeff in our latest "Behind the Bread."

When did you join the COBS Bread family and what inspired you to do so?  I joined COBS in 2005 as part of the Ontario opening team.  COBS offered opportunities to young professionals who had experience, but not necessarily the capital to own their own franchise.

What did you do before working at COBS?  I have worked in the hotel and restaurant industry since I was 15 years old.  My experience comes from my time at Marriott Hotels, McDonald’s, Starbucks and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

What do you enjoy the most about being a Franchisee?  I enjoy the people I work with, and the endless possibilities!

Which charities will your bakery donate end of day products to?  We are excited to donate our end of day products to United Way Burlington.

How are you planning on getting involved with the Burlington community?  We are proud to support Burlington through a variety of fun and profitable programs such as our Dough Raiser and Bun Raiser initiatives.  In addition, we will be partnering with the Breakfast Club of Canada for our Community Day.  We often donate product to local non-profit organizations to help raise money for great causes. 

A little more about you…

If you could invite three people to dinner who would they be?   My two great uncles, Gerald and Ted, and my grandfather Derry (who I never met).  These three brothers lived life to its fullest. I would seek their wisdom and a good laugh.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy the outdoors, fishing, golf and a cold beer.

What did you want to be when you were growing up? A professional hockey player, of course!

COBS Headon Forest will be opening its doors on Wednesday, November 19th. From 10am to 4pm, all sales proceeds will be donated to Breakfast Club of Canada. Hours of operation for the bakery will be 6 am - 8 pm Monday - Saturday, and 6 am - 6 pm on Sunday.
