Wow, what a June it was for the COBS family! If you're keeping track, we opened three bakeries over a two-week period- on June 10th in Red Deer, on June 19th in Regina, and on June 24th in Stamford, Connecticut.
It is a cornerstone of COBS Bread's philosophy to give back to the community, so we start with the very first day. New COBS Bread bakeries host Community Day, which typically means that on the first day the bakery is open to the public, all sales are donated to a local charity. Red Deer's First COBS Bread
On June 10, Scott and Mandy Wigley opened COBS Southpointe Common in Red Deer with record-breaking Community Day sales. They presented a cheque to Ronald McDonald House Central Alberta
in the amount of $5,387.29
! COBS Regina North
Julia and Rick Turchet opened their second COBS Bread bakery in Regina in two years on June 19 at Regina North. This year, their Community Day sales were donated to Hospitals of Regina Foundation
to help support the paediatric unit. It was definitely a successful charity day- the community showed up to support the opening and they were able to donate $4,000.00!
COBS Bread in Connecticut
Last but not least, Rob and Louise Hyden opened the first COBS Bread bakery in Eastern USA. Originally from Australia, Rob and Louise were eager to share COBS Bread with their community of Stamford, Connecticut. They raised more than $2,600
for the Boys and Girls Club of Stamford
on their June 24th opening day. Coming up... COBS Bread Robson Street!
